Windows 3.0 was developed in 1989 by a group of Microsoft programmers, who independently decided to develop a new Windows in protected mode, experimentally

Windows 3.1

Note: Windows 3.0 cannot run in full color on 8086 because the EGA and VGA color drivers require a 286 mode.
